- Post-vill: cavalry + Steppe + ram pressure.
- Weak vs: Skirmishers, Genitour, spear/camel.
📜 Deep playbook¶
🏛️ Standard DE profile
- Civ bonuses (verbatim intent):
- Can build a second Town Center in the Feudal Age.
- Cavalry moves +10% / +15% / +20% faster in Feudal / Castle / Imperial Age.
- Siege Workshop available in the Feudal Age.
- Stone walls available in the Dark Age.
- Team bonus: Palisade Walls +50% HP.
- Unique units: Kipchak (Castle UU, mounted horse archer that fires 3 arrows per shot). Team UU (via ally Castle): Kipchak also shareable through the "Cuman Mercenaries" tech.
- Unique techs:
- Castle Age: Steppe Husbandry — Scout Cavalry, Cavalry Archers and Kipchaks train 50% faster.
- Imperial Age: Cuman Mercenaries — Allies can train 10 free Elite Kipchaks at your Castle.
- Notable missing techs: no Plate Barding Armor, no Bloodlines... wait — Cumans DO have Bloodlines. They lack Plate Barding Armor, Shipwright, Arbalester, and Siege Onager. They do have Siege Ram.
- Walls: Palisade, Stone, Fortified — all available. Stone Walls unlocked in Dark Age.
🏰 CBA REQUIEM v294 profile
(v294 numbers: Fandom wiki, retrieved 2026-08-21)
- Starting age: Feudal (Requiem v294 start table). (standard CBA rule).
- Spawn unit: Kipchak (Elite Kipchak once silver-UT unlocks) — not listed in the v294 wiki table — ask in the Requiem Discord whether Requiem v294 spawns base or Elite by default.
- Spawn interval: 8 s per Castle.
- Unit cap: 60.
- Kills to Castle: 300.
- Kills to Imperial: 600.
- Razes to first villagers: 2 (standard CBA is 1 raze = 20 villagers to the razer; Requiem tweaks are 2).
- Subsequent raze payoff: not listed in the v294 wiki table — ask in the Requiem Discord.
- Free starting tech granted: Thumb Ring; Chemistry (Cuman Mercenaries and Steppe Husbandry are candidates; not confirmed in v294 table).
- Elite / silver-UT unlock: not listed in the v294 wiki table — ask in the Requiem Discord kill count; unlocks Elite Kipchak upgrade and typically Cuman Mercenaries.
- Available buildings / disabled units after villagers: Barracks, Archery Range, Stable, Siege Workshop, walls/gates, up to 10 Bombard Towers (Castles and Town Centers can NEVER be built; Blacksmith & University are pre-placed). Trebuchets are globally disabled in CBA. Bombard Cannon disabled (Cumans lack it in DE anyway).
CBA role & archetype
- Primary role: Kite / raze. Kipchak is a multi-shot cav archer — high burst, moderate HP, excellent at picking off wounded units and finishing razes.
- Secondary role: skirmish support against Mangudai and Longbow lines because the 3-arrow volley punishes clumps.
🌅 Opening play (minute 0–3)
- Position on the near flank, not the deep flank. Kipchak damage falls off vs. tanks; you want to be adjacent to a diver (Franks, Huns, Persians) so you can peel and clean up.
- Set spawn distance short. Kipchaks are fragile; long walks feed enemy Onagers/Mangonels.
- Patrol in staggered lines, not clumps — 3-arrow volleys stack losses when your own stack takes a Mangonel shot.
- Take fights: enemy Halb clumps, wounded HHA, isolated Rams.
- Refuse fights: mass Skirms, Camel Archers head-on, enemy Mangudai in open ground.
⚔️ Kill accumulation strategy
- Safe kill farm: Goths (Halb spam), Ethiopians (Shotel/Halb), Aztecs (Jag/Eagle), any melee-heavy civ. Kipchak's 3 arrows melt low-pierce-armor infantry.
- Avoid feeding: Britons Arbs, Vietnamese Rattans, Ethiopian Arbs — you lose the ranged war.
- Anti-caging: never sit on your own base wall. Move a screen of Kipchaks two tiles outside the wall and pull back through the gate on aggro.
🏚️ Raze allocation
- 1-raze priority civ. Cumans want villagers early so they can wall and add Skirms/Halbs behind the Kipchak line.
- Feed razes to Huns / Persians / Franks on your team — your Kipchaks can peel their dives but shouldn't be the tip of the spear.
👷 Post-villager composition
- Wall order: gate patch first (the two-tile gap where Kipchaks path out), then backwall, then front wall.
- Standard build: 2 Barracks, 2 Ranges, 1 Stable, 2 Siege Workshops. UU production and Castle research run from your pre-placed Castles.
- Imperial composition: Elite Kipchak + Halberdier + Siege Ram. Onager is not available (no SO); use Heavy Scorpion or Ram for siege.
- Silver-UT priority: Cuman Mercenaries first if you have a heavy-cav ally; Steppe Husbandry is baseline useful for reinforcement speed.
⚖️ Strong against / Weak against
- Strong vs: Goths, Aztecs, Mayans (Eagle spam), Ethiopians melee, Vikings infantry, Malay.
- Weak vs: Britons, Mongols (Mangudai), Chinese (Chu Ko Nu), Vietnamese, Byzantines (Cataphract + Skirm), Camel Archer civs (Gurjaras, Hindustanis).
🤝 Team synergies
- Best 4-stack partners: Franks (dive absorbs Skirm fire while Kipchak cleans up), Persians (War Elephant tank), Teutons (Teutonic Knight + slow front + Kipchak peel), Berbers (Camel Archer + Kipchak = ranged raze wall).
- Conflict: pairing with another light-cav-archer civ (Mongols, Magyars) creates a soft front — you both want the enemy to have already committed.
🎮 Key micro rules
- Never engage from a stopped clump — always patrol-through so the 3-arrow volley lands moving.
- Retreat at 50% HP; Kipchaks reload their multi-shot on the way home.
- Focus-fire wounded units, not fresh ones — burst damage rewards target-selection.
- Keep 1 Ram per 8 Kipchaks in Imperial for raze conversion.
- Never fight uphill against Arbs.
Common mistakes: sitting on top of the front wall (Mangonel bait); researching Parthian Tactics before Bracer (Bracer is the bigger DPS gain); trying to duel Mangudai in open ground.
🔒 Version-locked (Requiem v294)
- Kipchak base stats, Cuman Mercenaries free-count, and any Feudal-second-TC gimmick are DE-standard.
- All spawn-interval / cap / kill-threshold numbers are v294-specific and marked "not listed in the v294 wiki table" above.
