Who is strong in Requiem v294, and the mistakes that lose most games.

Tier lists are averages — ask the AI expert about your exact lobby ("is Goths a good pick against Britons + Mayans?") for a real answer.

🏆 Tier table (2026 community consensus)

At a glance: S ban-or-pick  →  A strong role player  →  B conditional  →  C needs carrying  →  D trap pick

Tier Civs Why
S Britons, Mayans, Vietnamese, Ethiopians, Aztecs, Byzantines, Saracens, Huns, Mongols, Vikings 1-raze eco carries (Britons/Mayans/Vietnamese), universal tank (Byzantines), premier razers (Huns, Ethiopians), archer-melter (Mongols), snowball start (Vikings)
A Koreans, Japanese, Franks, Malians, Chinese, Mapuche, Gurjaras Strong role players: siege bloom, anti-UU, raze power, pass-through pressure
B Celts, Spanish, Turks, Persians Powerful but conditional — Persians are S if protected, D if focused; Spanish/Turks bloom only in late Imperial
C Goths, Teutons, Slavs, Bulgarians, Cumans, Magyars Polarizing or passive; Goths only work vs archer stacks, Teutons must be carried
D See trap picks below

Trap picks: Goths into anti-infantry melee (Japanese/Aztecs/Byzantines); Persians without team protection; late-imp civs (Spanish, Portuguese, Turks) in fast lobbies. Several new DLC civs (Chronicles, Three Kingdoms, Last Chieftains) are unevenly balanced in CBA — community feedback flags some as overtuned.

❌ Top 10 mistakes

  1. Right-clicking a melee mass onto one unit — clog + DPS drop; patrol or attack-move instead.
  2. Standing still at unit cap — wasted spawn timers; push so the enemy cages first.
  3. Chasing kiting archers with slow melee — pure feeding.
  4. Deleting pre-placed gates/towers/Castles — instant defeat.
  5. Over-razing — you're stealing your teammates' villagers.
  6. Line formation vs pass-through (Chakram/BBE/Scorpion) — always Stagger.
  7. Playing Persians (or any 3–4-raze tank) without team cover.
  8. Ignoring the far battle — the two-2v2s rule; tunneling loses 4v4s.
  9. Not backwalling first — the rear gate is the enemy's first raze target.
  10. Using stale numbers — thresholds change between Requiem versions; v294 only.
